Special Feature: Itadori vs Yuta — The Ultimate Showdown
A special preview video titled “Itadori vs Yuta” has been officially released to promote the upcoming film Jujutsu Kaisen: Shibuya Incident Special Edition × Culling Game.
This movie will hit IMAX theaters in Japan starting November 7, followed by a global release shortly after.
The movie will include a recap of the Shibuya Incident Arc and a world-premiere screening of the first two episodes of the “Culling Game Arc.”

What Is the Culling Game?
Following the catastrophic Shibuya Incident on October 31, chaos erupted across Japan.
After Gojo Satoru was sealed within the Prison Realm, the balance of the Jujutsu world collapsed.
Sorcerers and students fought desperately against cursed spirits and curse users, suffering massive casualties.
Meanwhile, the mysterious curse user Kenjaku (formerly using Suguru Geto’s body) launched a deadly “killing game” known as the Culling Game (死滅回游 / Shimekkaiyū).
Fushiguro’s sister Tsumiki becomes unwillingly involved, and Itadori, Fushiguro, and their allies set out to save her—and to free Gojo from his imprisonment.

Meaning Behind “Culling Game” (死滅回游)
The term Shimekkaiyū is inspired by the Japanese word “shimetsu kaiyū-gyo” (死滅回遊魚), meaning “doomed migratory fish.”
These are tropical fish swept by ocean currents into colder waters, where they cannot survive.
Likewise, the “players” (泳者 / swimmers) in the Culling Game are drawn into deadly battles from which few can escape alive.
Overview — What Happens in the Culling Game?
Simply put, the Culling Game is a deadly battle royale among sorcerers trapped within special barriers called colonies.
Players earn points by killing others.
When a player accumulates 100 points, they may add a new rule to the game by negotiating with the Game’s Administrator.
Itadori and his allies aim to exploit this system to save lives and escape the cycle of killing.
Kenjaku’s Plan and the Purpose of the Culling Game
The true mastermind is Kenjaku, also known as Noritoshi Kamo, a centuries-old curse user who has survived by transplanting his brain into others’ bodies.
Kenjaku’s ultimate goal is the evolution of humanity through merging with Master Tengen.
Over centuries, Kenjaku has prepared for the Culling Game by:
- Marking over 1,000 humans with cursed energy
- Forcing them to awaken their techniques
- Implanting cursed objects (similar to Sukuna’s fingers) or altering their brains via Mahito’s Idle Transfiguration
Once the preparations were complete, the marked humans awakened and the Culling Game began.
Why the Sorcerers Join the Culling Game
- Saving Tsumiki Fushiguro: Fushiguro’s sister awakens as a player. To save her, Megumi aims to create new rules allowing peaceful exits.
- Freeing Gojo Satoru: Gojo, the strongest sorcerer and Kenjaku’s greatest threat, remains sealed in the Prison Realm.
Itadori’s group seeks allies and points to add rules that will help rescue Gojo and end the game.

Culling Game Rules (General Rules and Additions)
Here are the key principles of the Culling Game, summarized for clarity:
- Players must declare participation within 19 days of awakening their cursed technique.
- Failure to do so results in the loss of their technique (and possibly death).
- Non-players who enter a colony automatically become players.
- Players gain points by killing other players (5 for sorcerers, 1 for non-sorcerers).
- Spending 100 points allows a player to add a new rule.
- If a player gains no points for 19 days, their technique is revoked.
Additional Rules:
- Players can view others’ information (name, score, colony).
- Players can transfer points.
- A player may leave the game by spending 100 points and finding a substitute.
- Players can move freely between colonies.
- The game ends when all players except Suguru Geto and Megumi Fushiguro die.

- Tokyo (2 colonies)

Entering any colony automatically enrolls a person as a player. Each colony has nine random entry points, where ambushes by veteran players are common.
