Underground Swimming and Combat Style

Beam’s unique fighting style is based on the power of the Shark Devil.
His most distinctive ability allows him to swim through any surface — walls, floors, and even solid ground — as if it were water.
This makes him an ideal operative for stealth missions.
While most fiends draw attention due to their appearance, Beam can move unseen beneath the ground, allowing him to patrol openly with Denji.
Even during the Bomb Devil (Reze) attack, his sudden underground rescue and escape demonstrate his speed and adaptability.
His combination of stealth and mobility made him the perfect guardian-type partner.
Shark Transformation and Battle Techniques

Beam can temporarily transform into his shark-like devil form, either partially (head only) or fully.
In this state, his strength increases dramatically, allowing him to bite through almost anything.
He also protects Denji by hiding him inside his mouth, using his body as a shield.
Together, they develop an unconventional fighting style — Denji rides Beam like a mount, using his chains as reins.
This improvisation, though not what Beam intended, earns his wholehearted approval:
“Correct! That’s genius!”
Their chemistry in battle perfectly symbolizes their trust and bond.
Advice on Chain-Based Combat

During the fight against Reze, Beam suggests Denji use his chains for mobility.
Though he meant it differently, Denji interprets it literally — riding Beam and using his chains as a tether.
At first, Beam protests (“Chigau!” — “That’s not it!”), but he quickly acknowledges Denji’s instinctive creativity.
His willingness to follow Denji’s lead shows his absolute loyalty and faith in Chainsaw Man.

Beam’s Death and Final Words
In Chapter 65 (Volume 8), Beam meets his tragic end — one of the most emotional moments in Chainsaw Man.
The Hell Descent and the Darkness Devil
Dragged into Hell by Santa Claus’s contract with the Darkness Devil, Division 4 faces a nightmare beyond comprehension.
The Darkness Devil, a primal fear that has never known death, overwhelms everyone instantly.
As comrades are torn apart, Beam desperately acts — even with his arm severed, he feeds his blood to Denji, reigniting Chainsaw Man’s engine.

“Please… come back to life… our wish… depends on you…”
Moments later, his body is shredded by invisible force.
His final sacrifice allows Denji to rise again — a true act of devotion.
Why Beam Obeyed Denji — The Truth Behind His Name and “Kenzoku”
According to Makima, Beam is one of Chainsaw Man’s Kenzoku — divine followers or celestial subordinates.
His name “Beam” is believed to come from Cherubim, the second-highest rank of angels in biblical hierarchy.
In Chainsaw Man, all eight “Kenzoku” (divine followers) are named after angels:

Seraphim, Beam, Galgali, Dominion, Virtue, Power, Princi, and Angel.
Among them, Beam shows the purest and most unwavering faith in Chainsaw Man.
Just as Cherubim are said to stand closest to God’s presence, Beam’s devotion mirrors that same divine loyalty.
He doesn’t serve Denji out of obligation or fear — but from worship and admiration, calling him “Lord Chainsaw Man” (オレの主様).
His sacrifice in Hell isn’t just bravery — it’s the fulfillment of his heavenly role as one of Chainsaw Man’s protectors.
