Chainsaw Man Part 1 featured battles where Pochita fought using Denji’s body—but this time, the roles appear reversed.
In the newly revealed form, Denji is the one wearing and controlling Pochita’s power.

Below is a breakdown of the design, symbolism, and possible abilities of this new transformation.

Chainsaw Man Part 1 Recap & Guide – Story, Arcs, Characters and Themes Explained

The new form is visually striking:

  • A red, armor-like body
  • A scarf made of exposed organs
  • Two devil-like horns growing from the head

Each detail seems significant, and Fujimoto rarely chooses design motifs without meaning.

The Organ Scarf: What Does It Symbolize?

In the United States, classic superheroes such as Superman and Batman are known for their capes—a symbol closely tied to Western hero imagery. In Chainsaw Man Part 2, Yoru also wears a cape-like garment, echoing that tradition.

So what does Denji’s scarf represent?

Japan has its own iconic hero: Kamen Rider, a franchise that began in 1971 and remains deeply influential today. For generations, Kamen Rider has been a hero figure admired by countless Japanese children. One of his signature features is the scarf around his neck.
Originally it was simply a costume-design workaround to hide the seam between helmet and suit, but over time the scarf became a symbol of Japanese heroism.

Thus, we see an intentional contrast:

  • Yoru = the Western-style cape hero
  • Denji (new form) = the Japanese-style scarf hero

The organ scarf may represent Denji stepping into the role of a uniquely Japanese hero—albeit in Chainsaw Man’s characteristically brutal fashion.

Why Does Denji Have Two Horns?

Two horns are especially notable because past Chainsaw Man forms never included them.

The character most associated with two horns in the series is Power.
This leads to a plausible theory:

1. Power’s Blood May Be Influencing the Transformation

Denji still carries Power’s blood within him. These horns could be a visual sign of her lingering presence.
If true, it would be a powerful emotional detail for longtime fans.

2. A More Devil-Like Evolution

Alternatively, this may simply reflect Denji accessing a deeper, more demonically charged level of his Chainsaw Man power.

Whichever explanation is correct, the horns clearly signal a significant shift in Denji’s form.

Abilities of the New Form (What We Know So Far)

While the full set of abilities remains unclear, one notable technique has already been revealed:

Denji wraps chains around Yoru’s devil allies and uses them as living shields.

This resembles the tactical chaining techniques he developed during his fight with Reze in Part 1.
It suggests that:

  • Denji is fighting with deliberate strategy
  • He is intentionally provoking Yoru
  • His old combat instincts are returning strong

The psychological aspect of Denji’s fighting style is clearly making a comeback.

Is the Part 1 Version of Denji Back?

The excited yelling, the thrill-seeking attitude, the reckless confidence—
This feels like the return of Part 1 Denji.

And when Denji is having fun, the story tends to take unpredictable and explosive turns.

As Denji and Yoru head toward a decisive confrontation, the outcome is impossible to predict.
But one thing is certain:
Denji’s new form is set to play a major role in the future of Chainsaw Man Part 2.
